Returnee
Every year a lot of Japanese people go abroad for many reasons, such as travel, business and studying. And some of them believe in Jesus Christ there. We call them "Returnee".
The number of them is about 1600 people every year. But when they come back to Japan, they often find it difficult to go to Japanese churches because the atmosphere is totally different from churches where they became Christian. Allegedly the rate of Returnee who stop going to church after coming back to Japan, is 70 - 80 percent of 1600 people.
Surprised by the number and rate, some Japanese Christians have recently began to think about this problem and made networks and websites for Retunee. And they started to realize that this problem tells that Japanese churches have to change their old-fashioned style. For example, worship style, leadership style, relationship style and so on.
So please pray so that more Japanese Christians think about this problem and start to think about the real meaning of church.
